How to Volunteer


  • No medical background required
  • Minimum of 18 years of age
  • Must speak and understand English
  • Must complete MRC Basic Training within first year of registering as a volunteer. It is strongly encouraged to participate in at least one (1) activity each year after that

What will be expected of you?

Every Miami-Dade MRC member is asked to attend the Miami-Dade Medical Reserve Corps New Volunteer Orientation Session at our office in Doral, FL.  At this orientation session, you will receive an overview of the MRC initiative and learn how you fit into the MRC structure.  You will also complete the following requirements:

  • Obtain State of Florida MRC Network ID badge
  • Fingerprinting for Level II Background Screen
  • Complete all required MRC paperwork
  • Overview of FEMA IS-100 and IS-700 courses (see “Training” tab)

This orientation session will also give you an opportunity to meet the Miami-Dade MRC Coordinator and Staff Assistant as well as other new MRC members.

How to get Started

Please visit www.SERVFL.com and register as a member of the Florida Medical Reserve Corps (MRC) Organization and as a part of the   Miami-Dade unit.  Once your profile shows as 100% complete you will be invited to attend the New Volunteer Orientation Session*.

*Please note, you will NOT be invited to Orientation until your profile reads as 100% complete.

Group Registrations

Are you part of a large group (25+ people) who are interested in joining the MRC together?  The Miami-Dade MRC Coordinator can visit you and conduct New Volunteer Orientation in the comfort of your own facility. Please contact us for more details.

Already a volunteer?

You can view your SERVFL profile at any time by visiting www.SERVFL.com.  If you do not remember your SERVFL password and/or username, please call us at 786-845-0100 or email us at MRC.MiamiDade@flhealth.gov so we may assist you.

If you would like to volunteer with MRC but live outside of Miami-Dade County, please visit the National Office of the Civilian Volunteer’s website at https://mrc.hhs.gov and search for the unit in your jurisdiction.
