Miami-Dade Medical Reserve Corps Celebrates National Volunteer Week

Published April 11th, 2019 by Tamara Turk

In celebration of National Volunteer week, which took place between April 7th and April 13th 2019, the Miami-Dade MRC shared daily newsletters with inspirational content, unique infographics, and volunteer stories. The MRC appreciates all the hard work, effort and time that volunteers have dedicated towards serving their community, and we always strive to keep our volunteers happy and active within their community.

The Miami-Dade Medical Reserve Corps unit was established in 2004 and has successfully trained and credentialed hundreds of deployable volunteers. In an emergency event, these volunteers will work with traditional responders during the response and recovery process. Our unit has a majority membership of medical professionals but we also support over 80 professionals that work outside the medical field. The MRC is available to assist in alternate care sites, medical evacuation shelters, point of dispensing sites, or hospitals to address any medical surge.

New volunteer orientations are being scheduled thoughout April and May. If you would like to find out more about the Miami-Dade Medical Reserve Corps or to join please call 786-792-5299 or email MRC.MiamiDade@flhealth.gov
